Origin Story

Virgil Hawkins was a regular high school student in Dakota City until he was caught in 'The Big Bang' - an incident where gang members were exposed to experimental mutagenic gas. The exposure gave Virgil and many others (called 'Bang Babies') superpowers. Virgil gained electromagnetic abilities and decided to use them to protect his city as Static Shock.
