Origin Story

Yogi Bear was created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera and first appeared in 1958 as a segment on 'The Huckleberry Hound Show.' His personality and mannerisms were partly inspired by Art Carney's Ed Norton character from 'The Honeymooners.' Yogi's popularity quickly grew, leading to his own show, 'The Yogi Bear Show,' in 1961. He resides in the fictional Jellystone Park, a play on Yellowstone National Park, where his main preoccupation is creatively acquiring food from park visitors, much to the chagrin of Ranger Smith.
